Refreshments are an essential ingredient to any
Methodist activity. The following combine fellowship with a cup
of tea or coffee.

Refurbishment of our church in 2005 has given us a wonderful new facility
under the gallery at the Barn Hill end of the church. This is "The Well"
(short for the welcome area), where we offer fellowship, refreshments &
light lunches and sell fair trade goods. It is currently open on Wednesdays,
Thursdays & Fridays between 10.00am & 4.00pm and on Saturdays between 9.30am & 1.00pm. During these times visitors
are welcome to come in to the church for prayer, contemplation or simply a
look around, as well as a chat and refreshment in The Well.
Friday is market day for Stamford and people come
from far and wide to do their shopping. Our church is only a
short distance from the market and every week people like to drop in
for a sit down and chat over coffee and biscuits in The Well from 10.00 am.
The Rev. Tom Bryant, a previous minister, felt
that there was a need for a Sunday afternoon meeting for people who
might want company at the weekend, and he initiated the Open Door Tea
Fellowship, which has been running now since 1986.
The Open Door meets on the first Sunday in the
month (apart from August when there is a summer break and September
when the meeting is re-arranged so as not to clash with Burghley Horse
Trials). Membership is open to all, but presently consists largely of
older people. The meeting usually starts at about 3.30 pm
when arrivals are greeted with a welcoming cup of tea. When everyone
has settled, tea is served consisting of sandwiches and cake. Sometimes
there is a little entertainment, but often a 'good chat' is sufficient.
The atmosphere is warm and welcoming. Some
transport can be provided. For further details, contact Evelyn Pickard on 01780 720528.
