The main idea of
these groups is to let the youth enjoy themselves and have a good time. We also want to spread God’s message across
to the youth. Each member of the group
has a different personality and a different view of things; this is what makes
it so interesting and fun.
This website has
been set up to attract more young people to Barn Hill and to show other people
around the world what we get up to! So
please read on and be amazed by what fun we have!

Many of the youth
club members are also members of the church.
We meet one Sunday evening every
month.
Here we discuss a wide range of Christian, moral and ethical issues,
that surround our world today. It
sounds pretty boring but we always seem to find an interesting side to it
all. We also prepare ourselves and plan
for forthcoming youth services and events.
It’s all great fun here; we have a great laugh and get to see friends
that don’t go to youth club and that we haven’t seen for ages. It seems every month has at least one of our
birthdays, so we have birthday cake and share presents. There are around 10 of us there every month,
and we would love to see more!

Every
Saturday evening there is a youth club.
Here we have the chance to make new friends and have a
good laugh. We play basketball, football, pool, table
tennis and much more. We all bring our
own selection on music for everyone to listen and sing to. There is a tuck shop full of sweets and
fizzy drinks. At the end of each school
term we have an outing, these are chosen by us the members, last time we went
to laser quest and the time before we went bowling. We often have fundraising events to raise money for the youth
club.

MAYC
Weekends
Every
year different churches in our district take it in turns to host the MAYC
weekend. Recently we hosted it at Barn
Hill. We had the Title “Who Dares Wins”
(sounds bit like something del boy says!)
The theme was “ Facing
the Challenges of today”. Through the
weekend we had group activities, games and educational talks, all reflecting
the theme. Overall it was as great
weekend, where we made new friends and learnt many new things. It was the first time that Branson met Barn
Hill, and us, so it must have been good, because he came back! This year the District weekend was held in
Rothwell. We missed Saturday morning
but enjoyed what was left of the weekend. We stayed in a church hall in a
village outside Rothwell; this was great fun and a good laugh. We left Rothwell on Sunday having had a fab
time.
Spring
Harvest
Every Easter us
youth go on a Christian holiday called Spring Harvest. It is held at different
Butlins’ across England. We go to the
Butlins in Skegness. It lasts for 6 days. We are split into age groups that we never
stick to! In each group we have an
amazing time, having fun hanging around with mates, making loads of new
friends, and generally having a laugh.
But the week is also a chance to meet with God, spend time with him, and
to worship Him. A time of learning more
about him, about His mission for this world, and about your own part in that
mission. The adults (leaders) also have
their own groups to help their faith grow too.
There is a morning session and an evening session that we ‘have’ to
go to, but the rest of the time you are free to join clubs or whatever pleases
you (BREAKDANCING ON TABLES?! LOL!).
Usually we stay in the chalets, but this year we ventured into staying
in caravans! An experience that we probably
won’t have again if Sarah has anything to do with it! We all enjoy it thoroughly, as we all build a much stronger and
closer relationship with each other (because we have to live with each other!
YUKK!). And with God. It is somewhere to get away from home life
and into the outside world, and trust me you’ll never get bored! We learn new modern songs to bring back and
‘try’ to teach our congregation back home!
24
Hour Prayer
Every year at
Spring Harvest, there is a room allocated to prayer. Groups sign up for an hour of
prayer so that there is praying all day for
the 6 days. Recently we used this idea
at Barn Hill, but only for 24hrs. The
upstairs lounge was transformed into a peaceful prayer room. The atmosphere in there was incredible. There were fairy lights, lava lamps and
candles; there were fabrics draping from the ceiling. In one corner you could peg your prayers on a washing line, and
in the other there was an arts and craft section to make your prayers. Members of the church and people who visited
signed up for an hour or more in the 24hrs that it was open. We took shifts for who was in the room each
hour, because a youth had to be there at all times. We prayed through the night and had little sleep, but it was
great fun, and a memorable experience.
We attracted many visitors throughout the 24hrs and it was very
successful. We are planning on doing
this again this year; we would love your support.
