A Message From Our Minister

It is a privilege to be Minister of the Methodist Church in Stamford - officially Trinity Methodist Church, but always known simply as "Barn Hill".

My only regret about the Church building is that it is to some extent hidden away and only seen by those who come exploring Barn Hill or are following the "Middlemarch" trail. We have an impressive and sizeable set of premises and the Church itself is comfortable and has a worshipful and homely atmosphere.

But of course the Church is more than just a building. We are a growing family of Christian people and have a confirmed membership of over 190 adults as well as an active Sunday School and Youth Group, and a multiplicity of activities through the week to suit all ages. Barn Hill is a lively and caring Church and we offer our facilities for the use of many groups in the town.

We are also a welcoming Church, as those who come to share in our worship for the first time always testify. The services are straightforward and are conducted by a variety of Ministers and Local Preachers. They usually include both traditional hymns and modern worship songs; the singing is vigorous, the preaching direct and the fellowship warm.

Our Fair trade and coffee shop "The Well" is open 10 - 4 Wednesday - Friday and 9.30 -1.00 on Saturdays and provides a hospitable and friendly way to "have a look". Do enjoy your visit to us, and remember that you would be welcome in "The Well" or to join us for worship on any Sunday, at 10.30 am or 6.30 pm.
